  • Timmy is given a used magic lamp with only One Wish left.

  • So, to stretch out the magic, he decides to wish for a hundred more wishes.

He starts out small but decides to think bigger, and to wish for bigger and bigger things too!

  • Ultimately he finds that all the wishing in the world, and owning of "things" isn't what makes someone happy.

  • Besides, where would you put it all?

One Saturday morning just watching TV,
Timmy thought to himself, "Nothing happens to me."

"I just sit here at home. My life is no fun.
I watch some cartoons and then when I'm done,

I just hang around. Maybe play on a swing.
But I’m terribly bored. I don't do anything.

I wish that just once I could do something great,
And I wish it was soon so I don’t have to wait.”

Suddenly came a loud knock at the door.
And so Timmy got up off the living room floor.

There at the door was a strange looking man,
Who was holding a strange looking lamp in his hand.

"Excuse me," said the man. "But if you do not mind,
I'd like to take just borrow a bit of your time."

"You see what I have here, my very good friend,
Is a slightly used lamp with some magic to spend.

"Why do you have it? And why sell it to me?"
Timmy asked the strange man who knelt down on one knee.

"Your wish," said the man. "It could not be ignored.
You asked me to come when you said you were bored.

You see, I am the man that can change all of that.
Why, your life’s changed already from our brief little chat.

Take the magic lamp friend. There is no charge at all.
And if you run into trouble, just give me a call."

Then all of a sudden, in the blink of an eye,
The strange man just vanished without a good-bye.

And all that was left of the man that was there,
Was that one magic lamp left on Timmy's front stair.

Timmy picked up the lamp and he brought it inside,
Where it sat on a table way off to the side.

A few moments later came smoke and bright light
And it hurt Timmy’s eyes 'cause the light was so bright.

And as the light faded he could almost just see,
Floating there in the air was a magic Genie!

"I am a Genie and my name is Ned.
I am real glad to meet you," the Genie had said.

"Since I am a Genie I can grant you one wish.
Whatever you want. Maybe ice cream in a dish?

Go ahead, choose your wish but remember, just one.
And then after that all your wishing is done."

Timmy thought really hard. "Hmmm. What wish would I like?
Maybe one hundred dollars. Or how about a new bike?

I could sure use a fan for when my room gets real hot.
Or maybe a boat or my own dog named 'Spot'.

But I have just one wish and that's all that I've got.
I can get just one thing. Then again... maybe not!"

Timmy thought for a second, then made up his mind.
"One hundred more wishes. That would suit me just fine."

"Granted," said the Genie who then he went on his way,
While Timmy just stood there, thinking away.

"The first thing I wish for, the thing I want most,
Is a gold plated toaster that makes gold plated toast.

For my second wish then, what I think I would like,
More than anything else is a brand new red bike."

And as he kept talking these things kept appearing.
They just kept right on coming without disappearing.

"And then for my third wish I wish that I had,
My own brand new skateboard with helmet and pads.

And then for my fourth wish you know what I'll do?
I'll wish that I had my own pet gorilla... or two.

A barrel of of ice cream. A huge ice cream cone.
A statue of me that is made out of stone.

And then for wishes number nine and number ten,
A slingshot, a b.b. gun and why, maybe then,"

"For eleven thru twenty a few things I could use
Would be ten pounds of gum and a new pair of shoes.

A new tennis racket. Eight miles of rope.
A video camera and a big telescope.

A snorkel and mask. A combination lock.
A basketball net and my own alarm clock.

For my next wishes I would like some more things,
Like a four acre playground with a whole bunch of swings.

I'd like my own mansion with a big swimming pool,
With a lifeguard on duty as a general rule.

I want a butterfly net and a metal detector,
An electric train set with a real live conductor.

I want a crate full of cookies. Fifteen gallons of milk.
And a pair of pajamas that are made out of silk.

I want a battery charger. A swing for my tree.
And a new set of china for my afternoon tea.

One crocodile and one alligator.
And a whole mess of junk food for a snack some time later.

A cactus shaped lamp. Apple pie a la mode.
A car for my garage and one more for the road.

And for my next wishes I want even more.
I just want to keep wishing until my wisher gets sore.

So I wish for.....

A set of binoculars. An electric race track.
And an eight foot adjustable scratcher for my back.

A velvet poster of Elvis. And one more cactus lamp.
A big disco ball. And my own Timmy stamp."

"A paint pellet gun. Sixty cases of soda.
A dark green gazebo and an off-white pagoda.

A pair of moose slippers with mittens to match.
A brand new TV and a pirate eye patch.

A radio wristwatch. A big bubble blower.
A pair of sunglasses and a riding lawn mower.

A speedometer for my bike. A model rocket launcher kit.
A super powered squirt gun and a real catchers mitt.

But wait just one second. Half my wishes are spent.
And I'm not even sure just where most of them went.

I guess from now on what I'll just have to do,
Is I'll have to think big and wish for bigger things too.

So for my next wish what I think would be great,
Is if I was to have my very own state.

I also would like a big luxury yacht.
And a long fancy limo like the presidents got.

I want to play shortstop for the Boston Red Sox
And I want all the gold that there is in Fort Knox.

I wish that I had a watch shaped like Big Ben.
All the worlds' frozen pizza and a gold laying hen.

A castle in England. A submarine in the ocean.
A hut in the Bahamas and some suntan lotion.

A monogrammed airplane. A world war two tank.
My own armored car for my own private bank.

I want the Eiffel Tower and the Tower of Pisa,
The Great Wall of China and my own Mona Lisa."

"I want the Rock of Gibraltar. The Mediterranean Sea.
And I want the Grand Canyon to be named after me.

But what am I doing? I am still thinking small.
I get whatever I want. There’s no limit at all!

So for my next wish I would be quite content,
If I was to have my very own continent.

And to go along with that I would like my own sea.
And then my own ocean. And then, hmmm, let's see.

Why stop at just that. I want the whole planet.
But then, of course, I'd need someone who ran it.

My friend Larry can do it. Yes, that would be fine.
And plus that would leave me with plenty of time.

To rule the whole galaxy and the universe too.
But then after that, what else can I do?

Except maybe to have everything that I see.
Why, I wish that I had all of infinity!"

Then Timmy stopped. "I think that that's it.
I have used up my wishes. I'll relax just a bit."

Timmy took a deep breath and he looked all around.
Everything was his. Whatever he found.

If he saw a tree in the woods, he knew whose it was.
He knew it was his and he knew this because,

Now he owned everything that there was left in sight.
He owned the whole day as well as the night.

He owned all the rocks. He owned all the mountains.
He owned all the water and all of the fountains.

The lines in the road and the stars in the sky.
And then Timmy stopped and he asked himself, "Why?"

"What good is having everything that I see?
Just what good is that? There is no fun for me.

When I look at something, and it's no matter where,
There's a sign in my head that says, 'I own that there'.

I own that yard. I own that blade of grass.
I own that gas station and I own all the gas.

I own that old train and I own all the tracks.
I own that Mcdonald's and all the Big Macs.

It's just too bad that I wished for all this.
I would have been happier just having one wish."

And then, one more time, came a knock at the door.
It was the strange looking man who had been there before.

"You asked for one hundred wishes, and although that's a lot,
Are you sure that's the number of wishes you got?"

Timmy thought to himself, "I don’t really know.
I am not really sure but I do not think so."

"Well go ahead and wish. You have nothing to lose.
Just make sure the right wish is the one wish you choose."

Timmy thought for a moment. And then thought some more.
Then he thought, "Boy this wishing is really a bore.

I wish that I never got caught up in this mess.
I am really quite tired of it I must confess."

And then all of a sudden Timmy's things were all gone.
They had just disappeared right off his front lawn.

Everything was back to the same as before.
So Timmy went in and sat down on the floor.

He turned on the TV and sighed a big sigh,
Unaware of the lamp on the table nearby.
